American citizens continue to be targeted in Pakistan for their Shia Muslim faith

Editor’s note: This is the second time in just the last 14 months that American citizens have been killed in Pakistan simply for their Shia Muslim faith. We must support our youth and activists who have raised this issue. Clearly, as a faith community in North America, we have not done enough and have relegated All activism and civic duties as a tokenism on Ashura – when we are actually suppsed to be commemorating the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain.

We must organise and have peaceful protests on the situation in Pakistan, Iraq and Yemen. We are sharing the accounts by our activists on the tragic attacks on American Shia Muslims in Pakistan.

Inna lillahe wa inna ilayhe raje’oon. Sincere condolences to Zainab Haider-Zaidi⁩ and Wajahat Zaidi on the loss of his father, Syed Muhammad Sayedain Zaidi, at the hands of takfiri terrorists in a drive-by shooting today as he was leaving Maghrib prayers in Pakistan. A resident of Houston, he is the 2nd American to be target-killed in Pakistan for his Shia identity.

Only Allah’s true slaves are given shahadat. And from what I’m hearing he was an incredible person who always had a smile on his face. As a lawyer, he had previously traveled back to help free 80 innocent people in Rawalpindi and routinely fought for the rights of innocent imprisoned momineen in Pakistan.

He had just completed ziyarat in Iran and Iraq before going to Pakistan. Incredible, alhamdulillah. He gave his last salaam to our Imams (as) in person before joining them forever, inshallah.

May Allah give his family patience and the courage to live up to his example. And to the rest of us, as well.
