Dr Ammar Nakshawani (PhD Exeter) is on of the finest and most highly educated Islamic scholars in the world today. An expert in Islamic philosophy and history, he was listed as one of The 500 Most Influential Muslims in 2014. Dr Nakshawani served as a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University’s Middle East Institute.

In September 2018, Dr Nakshawani delivered a series of lectures (in the context of the history of Muharram) on the following topics which are not only contemporary but also most relevant to Muslim youth. It is important to ensure that our children are not radicalized by violent ideology of Khawarij hence educated and enlightened Sunni and Shia scholars must play a role.

Whether we are Sunni or Shia, Muqallid or Ghair Muqallid, there is some content in these lectures, based in Islamic history and philosophy, that we will find useful for ourselves and our children. Not unlike other speakers, we may not agree with some of the content or arguments, but the lectures are definitely worth a few hours of our time, and may offer alternative or fresh insights.
